Speaking of the fine young writer, acter, director, and performance artist Miranda July. I found out today that she is currently shooting her second film “Satisfaction” and to no surprize to no one, she is staring in it too.
I must admit I am a fan of Miranda, but there is something about her that makes my eye twitch. That little thing is that I believe that she may be the most narcissistic modern artist I know of. Every movie stars her and is about her. All her stories a self devavating attack at her self, or her general lifestyle. Even when she is writing about some body else she finds away to put her own name into it.
But maybe I shouldn’t hate on her too much perhaps it is the necessary flaw of every artist. In the end you are creating art that shows your perspective on life. If you don’t believe in it whole heartedly, if you show one sign of a questioning thought, your whole perspective will be percieved as ingenuine.
but then again, maybe i’m wrong. Either way no matter what anyone says, even my own brain, I still like Miranda July.
